5 Things I Love About Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino
The Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino (hotel info) is one of the landmarks in the Philippines’ Queen City of the South. Even without getting inside the building, its façade is something marvelous enough to let the commuters of passing vehicles stop and stare. In the morning it looks like a massive, modern-day castle with high walls and a commanding height. At night it turns into a greater beauty, with its gold lights illuminating the entire building.

It was my second time staying at this luxurious hotel but it was my first time to really experience staying longer inside my hotel room. During our recent visit, we were able to tour around the entire hotel and check out its great facilities too. Now, I love a lot of things about the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, but because Its too long to write everything down, I condensed them into five:
Location
Location here refers to both the hotel’s and my room’s. Firstly, the hotel is a highly accessible place. Located near landmarks such as University of the Philippines Cebu and Cebu Country Club, getting a taxi from and to the hotel was not difficult. However, the hotel’s location does not compensate the property’s peacefulness. Once I got past the gates and went inside my room, the surroundings got quiet.

My room’s location is also highly accessible inside the hotel, at a convenient distance from the elevator. Once again, even though this is the case, my room was practically silent. Needless to say, sleeping was not a problem for me, and I had an awesome time meditating in the early morning (Yes! Im starting to learn the art of meditation)… I’ll talk more about my room later.
Beautiful Lobby

A building with a façade as beautiful as the Waterfront Cebu City can only have a much-more beautiful lobby. The grand lobby will literally make you shrink—high, intricate ceiling paintings, a long hall, and a lounge conveniently yet delicately built nearby. Each detail is luxurious. The lobby is also observable from the interior balcony.
Spacious Room
Of course, my most favorite part of my stay in the hotel is my room. My room is built for a king. It’s spacious with a minimalist design that was perfect for my general lifestyle of being a digital nomad: less distractions, but maximum comfort. The entire floor was carpeted and the lighting was not too bright or dim.

Aside from my royal bed, my room had a long, wooden desk (which was a perfect temporary workplace for me, by the way), a flat screen television, a digital-lock security box, a refrigerator, a bar/coffee making area, and a bathroom complete with toiletries and a huge tub!
Dining Options
When it comes to dining, the Waterfront Cebu City (customer reviews) also had a portfolio of fine restaurants. These include the all-day buffet restaurant UNO; the Chinese restaurant Tin Gow; La Gondola, which serves authentic Italian dishes (like, ehem, fresh pizza served straight from the brick ovens); and Mizu, whose chefs specialize in Japanese cuisine.

The hotel’s dining options also cater to coffee lovers such as yours truly, with the exquisite pastries and coffee of the French Café Madeleine.

For drinks, Treff, Café Fortuna, and Pool Aquarius offer excellent selections of wine and snacks. The Lobby Lounge, which is located right at the grandiose lobby of the hotel, was also a nice place to spend some time.

Most of these restaurants are open as late as 10:30 PM, with the latest open until 2 AM. Madeleine is open until 11 PM so you can get your dose of caffeine even in the hours you thought were ungodly. Meanwhile, Café Fortuna, which is located near the casino, is open 24 hours.
Great Facilities
Since it’s been a habit of mine to explore parts of the hotels I stay in, I was also able to witness the great facilities of the hotel. Naturally, I wasn’t able to use them all due to my rather short stay, but I can imagine all the convenience the amenities could bring.

Aside from the 24/7 casino, there was also a 24/7 gym and fitness center! There’s also an outdoor pool for chilling and a massage center. I also spotted a business center and some conference facilities from the outside. The hotel also had its own clinic and a medical service.
My verdict

I give this hotel a 5 out of 5. Sadly, this rate does not even give it enough justice. I would give them more stars if I could. I felt like royalty despite my short stay and everything was just so perfect. Hope I could get to stay here again soon!
